Ozempic weight loss injection

Orlistat is a weight loss injection designed to be taken weekly for long lasting weight loss results.

Ozempic weight loss injection

Ozempic is a weekly weight loss injection that you administer yourself and contains the active ingredient Semaglutide. This was originally prescribed for diabetics where it was found to have great success in weight loss and is now used widely off-label* alongside a healthy diet and exercise in patients who need to reduce weight. Like Saxenda it mimics GLP-1 to increase feeling of fullness and make you feel less hungry which will make it easier to lose weight as you will find calorie control and portion size reduction easier.  The dose of the medication is gradually increased up to a maximum of 1mg weekly and is injected just under the skin using the pen device.

Ozempic is suitable for most patients over 18 years of age with a BMI of 30 or a BMI of 27 with another condition that would benefit from losing weight. The goal is to reduce weight by 5-10% within the first 12 weeks or treatment. Before taking your medication, we will assess if this is suitable for you personally as it is not recommended in certain medical conditions or with some medicines.

* Off-label - When a licenced medication is used to treat a condition not specifically stated or listed in it's product license. A license is granted after rigorous testing and will specify who can use the medication and what it can be used for. This information is detailed in the patient information leaflet. Prescribing outside these guidelines is common practice and our prescriber will have assessed whether it is safe and any possible risks beforehand.

Consultations - What to Expect

Face-to-Face Appointments
Our in-person clinics are held at QRPMS, situated at Queens Road Surgery and begin with a full assessment, including measurements of height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, and blood pressure. We also review any current medications to identify if adjustments may be helpful for weight management. Together, we’ll explore lifestyle factors and any barriers to weight loss before setting realistic, personalised goals. If an injectable treatment is chosen, we’ll demonstrate how to use it during the appointment.

Virtual Appointments
Virtual clinics are conducted via Microsoft Teams for your convenience. At the start of your appointment, you’ll be asked to weigh yourself on camera so we can accurately record your current weight. The rest of the consultation mirrors our face-to-face appointments, including a review of medication, lifestyle, and goal setting, along with guidance on injectable treatments if applicable.
